Online identification

An electronic copy of identification documents is also sufficient for identification if:

  1. Authenticated by the financial intermediary, which:
  • obtains photographs of the person and ID from investor (e.g. via email /upload)
  • verifies that the photograph taken matches the photograph in ID
  • receives payment from investor’s bank account (country not on FATF high-risk / increased monitoring)
  • confirms investor’s residential address by means of:
  • tax or any other official invoice, or power, water, telephone invoice (utility bill);
  • postal delivery; or
  • public register or, if trustworthy, privately managed database / directory
  1. Authenticated by qualified electronic signature from a provider of certification services under Certification of Electronic Signatures
  1. Authenticated electronically (digitally) by an authentication provider such as notary public; attorney licensed in Switzerland; another financial intermediary in Switzerland or abroad
